Cotopaxi (5.897m) / 2 day


Day 1: We will meet in Quito early and the morning and take the South Panamerican Highway all the way down to Machachi where we will change directions towards the east until we reach the village of Pedregal and further to the parking lot at (4,500m) where our driver will leave us. Getting to this point normally takes about 3 hours in total. Here we will start hiking up carrying our entire luggage until we reach the José Rivas Refugee at 4,800 meters above sea level. Here we will enjoy lunch and rest for a while. In the afternoon we’ll head to the glaciers to practice for the following day and back to the refugee before 6pm. Dinner will be served and we will rest until midnight.

Day 2: The team will wake you up at midnight and serve you a substantial breakfast, good enough to give you all the energy that you will need. At 1am we will start ascending the Cotopaxi, we are expected to reach the summit in 6 to 8 hours depending of the physical shape of the group. We will take small paths at a time between 30 and 40 degrees of inclination; some might even have an inclination of 50º. At the top of the Volcano you will be able to enjoy of an unforgettable sight and we will give you enough time to take all the pictures you want and delight on the beauty. It will take us approximately 2 hours to descent back to the refugee where we will pack our things and head back to Quito.

Acclimatization al Cotopaxi (4.788m) / 3 Days


Day 1: Our journey begins very early in the morning in the city of Quito, we will drive south through the Panamerican Highway until we reach the Chasqui, here we will take a new route east that will lead us to the cabins of “Paja Blanca” or “white straw”. This ride will take us about 2 hours…here we will leave all our belongings and start an acclimatization hike that will start at the Limpiopungo Lake towards the Rumiñahui Volcano. We will enjoy the high plateaus and the amazing Andean landscape with stunning volcanoes such as the Antisana, Chimborazo and Sincholagua. We will hike up to the summit for about 5 hours and head back another 2. Back at “Paja Blanca” we will enjoy of a delicious dinner and a good night rest.

Day 2: Breakfast will be served at 9am; We will then head to the Cotopaxi museum and back to “Paja Blanca” to pack and get ready for the two days to come. In less than one hour ride we will arrive to the Cotopaxi parking lot and hike for another hour until reaching the José Rivas Refugee at 4,800 meters above sea level. We will have enough time to rest and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon we will head to one of the glaciers to practice at 5.000 meters above sea level and back to the refugee before 6pm where we’ll serve you dinner and let you rest until midnight

Day 3: The team will wake you up at midnight and serve you a substantial breakfast, good enough to give you all the energy that you will need. Iliniza North (5.126m) / 2 Days


Day 1:Our meeting point will be in Quito quite early in the morning; our driver will take us south through the Panamerican highway until we reach the parking lot called “La Virgen”, this is a 2 hour ride and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Here we will start our 3 hour hike to the New Horizons Refugee at 4,750 meters above sea level. Lunch will be served and we’ll have the rest of the afternoon to rest and unwind.

Day 2:Our day will start at 5am that morning with a substantial and nutritional breakfast. It normally takes 3 hours to reach the summit and there will be segments of the path that have a 50º inclination. After gathering our strength back, admiring the scenery and taking all the pictures you can take, we will head back to collect our backpacks and drive back to Quito.

Chimborazo (6.310m) / 2 Days


Day 1: Our team will meet you in Quito, early in the morning; our private transportation will be waiting to take us on a 4 hour ride south of the country to the Chimborazo Fauna Production Reserve. Here you will be able to admire the Vicuña, an Andean endemic specie. The car will take us up to the first refugee, the Hermanos Carrel, at 4,800 meters above sea level. Lunch will be served and in the afternoon we will ascend up to the Whimper Refugee at 5.000 meters. Dinner will be served and everyone will rest until 10pm. A light breakfast is served before leaving the refugee with all our equipment.

Day 2: At 11pm we’ll already be on our way… it will take us around 8 hours to get to the first summit “Veintimilla” at 6,270m and one more hour to the Whymper summit at 6,310m, a perfect place to admire the Andes and take spectacular photographs. We will need another 3 hours to head back to the Whymper camp where we will pack our things and head down to Hermanos Carrel and from there , it’s back to Quito.

South Iliniza (5.263m) / 2 Days


We will meet in Quito very early in the morning and in only a few minutes will reach the parking lot at the cable railway (3,350m) and ride up to 4,100m where our acclimatization hike will start. We will follow the path to the summit for about 5 hours and then back to Quito.

Cayambe (5.790m) / 2 Days


Day 1: We leave early in the morning; our ride will take us past the village of Machachi to Cayambe and then to a dirt road where you will be able to appreciate the stunning beauty of the highlands and the small communities that have settled along the road. Our destination will be the refugee that’s built over 4,600 meters above sea level.  After lunch we will head to the glaciers to practice for the following day, making sure to be back at the refugee before 6pm. Dinner will be served and we will rest until midnight.

Day 2: The team will wake you up at midnight and serve you a nutritional and substantial breakfast that will give you enough energy during our journey. The ascension to the summit will take us around 5 to 7 hours depending on your physical shape and degree of expertise. Once at the summit you will be given enough time to rest, unwind and admire all the beauty these amazing landscapes have to offer. For the following two hours we will make our way back to the shelter where will gather our things and drive back to Quito.

Antisana (5.758m) / 2 Days


Day 1: After meeting in Quito rather early in the morning, our driver will take us east to a small village named Pintag where you will be able to take photographs of the admirable scenery before you. After a two hour ride we will arrive to the base of the mountain at 4,550 meters above sea level. Here we will collect our luggage and walk for another hour until reaching our camp in one of the glaciers… the standard altitude of the camping site is 4,750 meters above sea level. Lunch and dinner will be served by our team and you will have chance to rest until 11pm

Day 2:At 11 pm our team will serve you a nutritional and substantial breakfast and will help you get ready to start your journey to the top of this majestic mountain. Reaching the summit normally takes 7 hours and it’s a true challenge due to the altitude, the breaches and almost vertical paths …but it’s all worth it. Making our way down will take another two hours; our team will be waiting for you with lunch and a warm seat on your ride back to Quito.

Acclimatization at Cotopaxi Volcano / 7 Days

 

Day 1: Pasochoa (4,200m)

Our 7 day acclimatization adventure is an experience of a lifetime. Slowly but surely we will conquer the most spectacular summits of Ecuador and make our way to the grand finale at the Cotopaxi Volcano at 5,897 meters above sea level.
At 7am our driver and private transportation will be waiting for us in a pre-scheduled meeting point in Quito to take us to the Pasochoa volcano. Our hike will take us through primary Andean forest where we will have the opportunity to observer diverse species of birds like the humming bird… and if luck is on our side, we might even be able to se the Andean Condor. Making it to the summit normally take us around 4 hours and from there it is likely you will se the Cotopaxi, Antisana, Ilinizas and the amazing Andean beauty. Descending back to the parking lot will take us about an hour; our driver will be expecting us there to take us further south to the small town of Machachi where we will spend the night surrounded by mountains and 

Day 2: Corazon Volcano (4,788m)  

Our driver will take us from Machachi to the base of the Corazón Volcano; a short drive that should not take longer than 20 minutes. Our 5 hour hike will be composed of amazing landscapes, scrublands and even trails of unstable rock formations. On our way up you will be able to admire the Cotopaxi, Ilinizas and the Ecuadorian Pacific coast, it’s truly an amazing journey filled with visual stimulation and deep contact with nature. Our descent will take 2 hours and once back to the parking lot; our driver will take us to Machachi where we will spend the night.

Day 3: Machachi – New Horizons Refugee    
Our team and driver will take us further south through the Pan-American Highway, a one hour ride to be exact. Our hike will start at the parking lot of “La Virgen” at 3,900 meters above sea level up to the “New Horizons” refugee at 4,750 meters above sea level. This ascension normally takes 3 hours… give or take a few minutes depending on the group’s physical condition. Lunch will be served at the refugee and we will rest for what is left of the day.

Day 4: North Ilinizas  (5,126m)  

This day we’ll have an early start; at 5am our team will give you a wake up call followed by a substantial breakfast, after that is off to the summit of the North Iliniza. It normally takes us 5 hours to reach the summit and some segments of the trail might be very steep… 50º inclination. On the summit you will have enough time to regain your strength, admire the region’s beauty and take amazing photographs. Our driver will be waiting for us at “La Virgen” to take us back to Machachi where we will spend the night.

Day 5: Quilotoa Lake  

After a physically challenging day, it is advisable to relax and rest; therefore, we have scheduled a sightseeing program to the Quilotoa Lake. Our driver will take us south passed the city of Latacunga where we will take a detour west and admire little villages like Pujili, Sumbahua and Tigua, very famous for its indigenous paintings. It normally takes us 4 hours to arrive to the Quilotoa Volcano where you will admire unique landscapes that came together by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago.
